FFSC Lifeboat Day 2017

Billie Box has sponsored a couple of different charities 2017. The first was FFSC Lifeboat weekend in September 2017.

This event raised over £3000 for the Lifeboat – Fantastic work by all those concerned.

Jane & Matt are members of the FFSC (Felixstowe Ferry Sailing club) and their sailing club is holding a whole weekend fundraising events for the Harwich RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution).

RNLI is Such a worthy cause, they save lives at sea everyday of the year. RNLI is run by volunteers and rely on public donations to keep their organisation going. It cost £485,000 per day in 2016 to run the RNLI.

During 2016 the RNLI rescued 23 people everyday of 2016, they trained and equipped over 610 lifesavers and 8,851 lifeboats were launched throughout 2016.

FFSC are holding a weekend of events:

Friday, 22nd September 2017 – 6.30pm to 10pm

  • Opening by the Mayor of Felixstowe
  • Fish & chip supper
  • Live music by ‘Bits & Pieces’
  • Beer tent

Saturday, 23rd September 2017 – 12 noon to 11pm

  • RNLI Fundraising stalls
  • Live music by local Pop and Folk bands and artists including ‘Troublesome Reach’
  • RNLI Lifeboat viewing
  • Try sailing taster
  • Children’s entertainment
  • Beer tent
  • All day BBQ, Tea & Coffee
  • Evening curry
  • Rowing machine
  • Fly your Teddy!

Sunday, 24th September – 12 noon to 6pm

  • RNLI fundraising stalls
  • Live music by local Pop and Folk bands and artists
  • Children’s entertainment
  • Duck race
  • All day BBQ, Tea & Coffee
  • The Traditional – Golf Ball over the river competition
  • Tombola

Billie Box has for the last 3 years, been actively fundraising for many charities.
In 2013, they raised over £2,000 for Cancer Campaign in Suffolk by way of a Grand draw.
In 2014, they raised over £4,500 for Cancer Campaign in Suffolk by way of the first Billie Box Ball.
In 2015, Jane and her sister-in-law cycled from London to Paris in aid of the St. Elizabeth Hospice, Ipswich, they raised over £8,000.

That is a total so far of over £14,500 for charity 🙂

On 30th April 2016, Jane & Steph held the 2nd Billie Box Ball at Ufford Park, Woodbridge in aid of Clic Sargent (Cancer support for the young). Jane and her team raised over £4,000 for this great charity.

Clic Sargent is a Nationwide charity that offers cancer support to young people 16-24 years old, children (under 13’s), their parents and professionals, teachers and nurses. It is such a great charity and really needs to be supported by those that do not use their services.

Cancer is close to Jane’s heart, with losing her Mother, step Grandmother, Father in law and friends to it. Jane said that she was so glad to be able to help support this fantastic charity by fundraising.

The Billie Box Ball Raises £4,599.30 for Cancer Campaign in Suffolk

Local business owner, Jane Billing of Billie Box Ltd, organised her first charity ball this year in aid of Cancer Campaign in Suffolk. Held on 3rd May 2014 at Seckford Hall in Woodbridge, the gala evening raised £2,299.65, which was then match funded by Basepoint Ipswich.

The backdrop of Seckford Hall gave the evening a touch of class with guests enjoying a glass of Bucks Fizz on the terrace upon arrival.  A sumptuous three-course dinner followed during which guests were enthralled by the sleight of hand of a roving magician. The event was also generously supported by many local businesses donating items for the raffle and auction, which helped raise a staggering £2,299.65. This amount was then match funded by Basepoint, who is also supporting Cancer Campaign in Suffolk as their chosen charity for the year, bringing the grand total to £4,599.30.

As with many people, Jane’s family has been touched by cancer, losing her mother to breast cancer 27 years ago. She chose to support Cancer Campaign in Suffolk because of the help and support they give to cancer patients and carers, the type of support that was not available to her family.

Thank you to all who supported the evening”.

“Last year I raised £1,370 for Cancer Campaign in Suffolk through a Grand Raffle, but this time I wanted to do something bigger,” said Jane. “Organising the Billie Box Ball has been very rewarding. I feel I have made a difference to a worthwhile cause. Thank you to all our supporters, in particular Basepoint for matching our fundraising efforts.”

Following the success of this year’s event, Jane hopes to make the Billie Box Charity Ball a bi-annual event and is already looking at ways to make the 2016 event even bigger and better.

Cancer campaign in Suffolk

Cancer Campaign in Suffolk (CCiS) is a charity that helps before during and after cancer. They work in the community as well as in the John Le Vay Cancer Information Centre at Ipswich Hospital proving information, support & therapies to cancer patients and their carers in Suffolk. Jane Billing – the Expert in Shipping and Storage Containers

Jane is our resident expert in shipping containers. She has been working in the shipping container industry for nearly 40 years both for other employers and for herself. Jane worked for ‘Container survey services’ (contractor for Unicon International UK office, where they surveyed containers for shipping purposes) from 1986 until 2000 as a ‘data processing clerk’ initially which led to an office management role. Jane was dealing with shipping lines, container leasing companies and container depots all over the UK.

In 2000 she became director and joint owner of a shipping container resale and leasing company for 9 years and she sold her share in the business in 2009. In September 2012 Jane decided to return to “what she knows” so she started up another shipping container re-sale business called Billie Box Ltd.

Jane is the sole owner and director of Billie Box, which offers 10ft, 20ft and 40ft shipping/storage containers that are perfect for secure static storage on a sale basis. The 20ft and 40ft containers are also available to hire. The containers can also be converted by Billie Box into chemical stores or portable offices. Billie Box offers a full service that includes the supply of containers, as well as various accessories and transportation to your door.

Jane is a keen fundraiser for mainly cancer charities. Over the last 12 years Jane has raised and donated over £50,000 for many charities that include Cancer campaign in Suffolk, AGE Suffolk, St. Elizabeth Hospice, Ipswich, CLIC Sargent, Papworth Trust, Myeloma UK, Centrepoint, Home Start, Suffolk, Colchester & Ipswich Hospital charity, Families in Need and Tiffers Bus, Ipswich and many more.
